Authentic “Frozen” Love

A great post on a Christian understanding of love from a fellow blogger.

Frozen In Disney’s Frozen , one of the characters says that “love is putting someone else’s needs before yours.”  I think the movie does a great job overall in suggesting that true love is about sacrifice rather than intensity of romantic feelings for another person.

While I do not believe Frozen to be a Christian allegory, the message of sacrifice is at the heart of the Gospel: “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends” (John 15:13).  In other words, offering one’s life as a gift is the greatest form of love.  This act of authentic love fulfill our heart’s longings as asserted in the Catholic Church’s teaching from Vatican II: “Man… cannot fully find himself except through a sincere gift of himself” (Gaudium et Spes 24).
